Why do we have a Sunday School? Why do we talk about it so much and put so much emphasis on it? Well, we as Christians have certain privileges, obligations and responsibilities and within the Sunday School so many of these can be achieved. Why Sunday School…
In a Sunday School that works correctly, the lost will be reached. I believe that when Jesus ascended into heaven, He left us our marching orders. They are called the Great Commission and are found in Matthew 28:18-20. A Sunday School that works is one that equips and challenges the classes to move (to go) beyond the church walls and into the community, working together to share the gospel and bring people to Christ.
Secondly, a healthy Sunday School class will be changing lives. God’s Word is dynamic and powerful and when people are exposed to it, their lives are transformed. When Sunday School is done right, students will be challenged and confronted with our God that will result in personal application and spiritual growth.
And then, it will mean a healthy church. Last week, I spoke about the difference between our seating capacity and our sending capacity. Meeting and experiencing God on a consistent basis will lead us out of the classroom and into the world for ministry.
Sunday School is vital to our Christian growth. Let us do all we can to utilize this great and wonderful opportunity! Commit today to Back to School…SUNDAY SCHOOL!!!
